Introduction The economic operation and management of the district heating system is an important aspect of ensuring the normal operation of the heating system and prolonging the life of the system. The design of the district heating system in Hernnig is typical of many district heating systems in Denmark. Therefore, this article is based on the city heating pipe network system for discussion. The city of Herning began heating in 1950. At that time, there was only one heating plant for lignite burning. The rated output of the boiler was 7 MJ/S. The length of the transmission pipe network was 2 Km and 140 users were supplied. After 1950, the district heating in Herning gradually developed.
