Lanzhou Vinylon Factory is located on the Loess Plateau in the northwest and the foundation soil is Grade I-II self-heavy collapsible loess. The plant’s organic chemical workshop covers an area of about 40,000 square meters and was commissioned in June 1979. Due to the impact of wastewater discharge and rainfall, large-scale ground subsidence quickly occurred, and many equipment foundations began to sink and tilt. The floor of the workshop is designed as a general waterproof floor. After the original soil is compacted, it is grounded with a step of 2:8 lime soil. On the grey earth, it is made of concrete 150 mm thick. Compared with the provisions of the relevant provisions of collapsible loess, the design standards are low, and the depth of treatment of collapsible loess foundations is not enough. The practice of the upper waterproof layer is relatively simple, resulting in subsidence of the foundation. In the workshop, various equipment and pipelines have been installed
