With the long-term continuous and strong support from the National Natural Science Foundation of China,the research team headed by Prof.Ma Ding has published their research findings in an article“A genome-wide association study(GWAS)identifies two new cervical cancer susceptibility loci at 4q12 and17q12”in Nature Genetics(2013,45(8):918—922).Abundant epidemiological and clinical evidence indicates that persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus(HPV)is the major risk factor and a requirement for the development of cervical cancer;
