On November 28, 1978, a piece of paper ordered that I be officially transferred to the editorial department of the People’s Liberation Army Press from a section of Yunnan’s border guards far away. Earlier, I had been working in the Army’s Chief Editor-in-Chief for more than a year and a half and had undergone the entire reporting process on the discussion of truth standards. I was somewhat ignorant about the great turmoil and major changes that are taking place in Chinese society. After the night shift, I rushed back to the old army for redemption procedures, unexpectedly encountered a not too small emergency on the way back.
