A new type of light source using radio frequency electrodeless plasma technology is applied to projection displays that utilize metal halides to avoid the adverse chemistry associated with the use of refractory metal electrodes and thereby make it possible to use a low-flux illuminance ratio light source . It makes projection display equipment has a long and stable life (no need to replace the lamp), a wide color gamut and fast start-up time. This article describes the basic physico-chemical mechanisms of high-intensity discharge (HID). This mechanism makes it possible to use a fused silica package and a plasma light source with high brightness, excellent color performance and wall stability.
