泰国外相巴蜀日前向报界透露,缅甸和泰国已基本上同意兴建两条跨国境公路,以连接中南半岛和南亚国家。 这两条公路,一条是由泰国北部来兴府湄索至缅甸东部妙瓦迪的泰缅悔河大桥连接的跨境公路,建成后,该路可通过陆路西达缅甸第二大城市曼德勒,连接孟加拉国、印度直达中东。另一条是从缅甸南部港口城市土瓦建一条跨境公路,横贯比劳山脉,连接泰国西部叻丕直达曼谷,然后通过铁路至柬埔寨金边,再通往越南胡志明市,再北上老挝万象,把中南半岛的交通网连接起来。这两条公路,是泰国计划的“东盟公路”规划中重要的一环。
Thai Foreign Minister Bashu recently disclosed to the press that Myanmar and Thailand have basically agreed to build two cross-border highways to connect Indochina Peninsula and South Asian countries. The two roads, one of which is a cross-border highway linking the Mae Sot from Phnom Penh, in northern Thailand to the Thai-Myanmar Repentant River Bridge in Mundi, eastern Burma, will be accessible by land to Mandah, the second largest city in Myanmar, Le, connecting Bangladesh, India to the Middle East. The other is to build a cross-boundary highway from Tuwa, a port city in the south of Myanmar, connecting Beaurao Mountains and connecting Ratchaphet in western Thailand with direct access to Bangkok and then by rail to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, then to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and Vientiane to Laos on the north. The peninsula’s transport network connected. These two highways are an important part of the planned “ASEAN Highway” plan in Thailand.
