While tracking the target indicated by the YAG: Nd laser Q switching pulse, the position-measuring probe measures the angle between the missile's flight direction and the aiming target line based on the relationship of the spot position on the detector surface. This photo-voltaic detector has four electrodes at the edge of its effective area. The output of these electrodes is processed to provide two DC analog signals proportional to the spot position. However, in order to accurately track the spot in the detector's entire field of view, designers must consider the problem of detector response degradation at the edge of the effective area.
