在弗洛伊德文明理论研究中,马尔库塞在坚持其本能的生物性基础上重述文明辩证法的内在张力,并通过外推新概念来增加其理论的历史性。但马尔库塞的努力不仅于此,他还看出了弗洛伊德文明理论内部包含的与传统理性逻各斯相对抗的满足的逻各斯倾向,他要求恢复这种感性沉思,从压制性文明内部设想出一种非压抑性文明,从非压抑性组织内部将这种爱欲的本质揭示出来,从而逐渐与马克思的感性解放思想相交融。
