栽培在热带地区的广藿香可生产香料工业广泛应用的藿香油。广藿香的栽培品种一般不开花,故不能进行杂交。由于自然突变率很低,若要改变基因型,可采用诱变育种的方法。但经辐射插条或匍匐茎会遇到嵌合体形成和二倍体选择的问题,取得突变型不多。为克服这个问题,Broertjes等(1968)建议采用不定芽技术,即通过叶片活体繁殖产生不定芽而形成小苗。该技术在营养繁殖作物的诱变育种上已得到应用,小苗主要从单个表皮细胞发育而成。
Patchouli cultivated in the tropics produces patchouli oil widely used in the perfumery industry. Patchouli cultivars are generally not flowering, it can not be hybridized. As the natural mutation rate is very low, to change the genotype, mutation breeding methods can be used. However, the radiation cuttings or stolons will encounter the formation of chimera and the choice of diploids, the mutation obtained few. To overcome this problem, Broertjes et al. (1968) suggested using adventitious buds, in which adventitious shoots are propagated through living leaves to form shoots. This technique has been applied to mutagenic breeding of vegetative and reproductive crops, which grow mainly from single epidermal cells.
