美式英语和英式英语在语言规则复杂程度上有很大区别。本文以信息论为理论框架,从信息熵角度量化分析美式英语和英式英语的语言规则复杂度,总结出区分两种英语变体的一般规律:美式英语信息熵相对低于英式英语,语言规则复杂度也相对较低。基于这一发现,本文提出学习者在学习和区分美式英语和英式英语过程中的元策略:在学习美式英语时可尽量应用一般性语言规则,而在学习英式英语时则须综合考虑一般性规则和特殊性规则。
American English and British English are very different in the complexity of language rules. Based on the theory of information theory, this paper quantitatively analyzes the complexity of the language rules of American English and British English from the perspective of information entropy, and summarizes the general rules that distinguish the two English variants: the information entropy of American English is relatively lower than that of British English and the rules of language The complexity is also relatively low. Based on this finding, this paper presents meta-strategies of learners in learning and distinguishing American English from British English. They try their best to apply general language rules when learning American English, and consider general English when learning English Sexual rules and special rules.
