宁芜地区氧化铁矿石大都产于高中温热液型矿床。铁矿物主要是赤铁矿、假象赤铁矿、亦有少量的褐铁矿、含铁碳酸盐。脉石矿物有石英、长石、方解石、高岭土、阳起石、绿泥石等。大部分铁矿物呈不均匀粒状嵌布。在开采中,多数矿山的矿石贫化率在20%左右。近些年来,宁芜地区一些矿山在处理氧化铁矿石中,普遍采用了隔膜跳汰机对分级物料(一般为10~(3~2)毫米、(3~2)~0毫米)进行选别。产品有的作为高炉富矿(含铁>45%)出售,有的作为粗精矿给入磨矿机。所采用的跳汰机型号有:梯形跳汰机
Most of the iron oxide ore in Ningwu area is produced in high school hydrothermal ore deposit.
