Heart as the body’s power source, myocardial cells must continue to re-synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in order to maintain normal pump function and systolic and diastolic function. ATP-induced disorders can directly affect the heart’s systolic function. Chronic heart failure occurs when metabolic remodeling occurs, including changes in the utilization of energy substrates and changes in mitochondrial function, ultimately leading to deficits in ATP and impaired systolic function. At the same time, changes in energy metabolism can also affect the progression of chronic heart failure. The relationship between chronic heart failure and myocardial metabolic remodeling deserves attention, and multiple aspects of myocardial remodeling may also be potential therapeutic targets. This article mainly reviews the related progress of the relationship between chronic heart failure and energy metabolism.
