介绍了利用Ro恢复不整合面地层剥蚀厚度的原理。对某一构造层恢复其顶面剥蚀厚度时,在使用Ro数据恢复剥蚀厚度的前提条件得到满足的情况下,直接将该构造层的ln(Ro)-H线性回归关系外推至ln(0·2)处而得到近似的古地表位置,古地表位置与不整合面位置的距离即为剥蚀厚度。通过图解说明,上、下构造层古地温梯度的大小关系不同,下伏构造层Ro的补偿过程就不同;只要Ro没被完全补偿就能够用来恢复地层剥蚀厚度,但当下伏构造层被进一步压实而Ro仍未被补偿时,应对结果作适当校正。
