From ancient times till now, in the history of Chinese painting, the herbivores are thriving. In the famous song “Guangchuan Painting and Calligraphy” in the Song Dynasty, they described the status of herbivorous insects in the history of Chinese painting and clearly recorded that the insects such as the “bee cicada” In the era of Gu Kaizhi, a category of Chinese painting has not yet been formed, but by the late Tang Dynasty it was already an independent branch of science in the discussion of the painting at the time. During the Five Dynasties period, Xu Xi’s Tinghua wild bamboo, eagle geese egrets, waterfowl and deep-sea fish, shrimp, fish, Cong Yan folds, garden vegetable seedlings, showing the southern literati Melancholy Ye style. The Huang Quan “rare bird map” (National Palace Museum possession), in addition to birds, there are beetles, grasshoppers, cicada, Hu Feng, bee, beetle and other insects. In other words, “flowers and birds ” in Song Dynasty has shown an achievement beyond the previous generation. Since then, Qian Shunju, a member of the Yuan Dynasty, put the worm in the aesthetic system of Chinese painting to another high point. By the 20th century, the era of Qi-Bai Shi even pushed this field to the height of a non-future. Qi Baishi expanded the species and scope of the insects and worms, they are flying in the sky, swimming in the water, walking on the ground, there are useful and harmful. Many of them are in the eyes of entomologists and are also rare species. This makes the worm and worm painting mature in Chinese painting, and the artistic value of herbivorous painting becomes more and more important in the history of painting.
