Amother’s gift can lead her child into a new world. That’s been the case with Frenchwoman Solange Lambert. She is using her mother’s gift (although she has updated the technology somewhat) to reflect rural China through her eyes in a way that is new and unfamiliar to most urban Chinese today. When Solange was 15, her parents broke up. For a time, she was restless and had a strong desire to be as far away from the source of her melancholy as she could get. Her mother understood her mood and took her on a trip to England, Scotland and Belgium. This first trip abroad proved a great antidote for depression and sparked an interest in the cultures of other countries
