It is a promising new concept to control schistosomiasis by using snail with no susceptibility to schistosome miracidosis as an attractant (hereinafter referred to as entrapment snail) to block the miracidia of schistosome and reduce the number of miracidia infected by the intermediate host snail. The authors made laboratory-induced trials of 4 aquatic snails, Marisa cornuarietis, Po-macea australis, Helisoma caribaeum, and Tarebia granifera, and tested their resistance to miracidia, and conducted a field trial of M. hornuarietis.
