Edwin Gordon, a name unfamiliar to most Chinese music educators. However, he is one of the most famous American contemporary music psychologist and music educator with international influence. He is also one of the earliest educational scholars engaged in the theory of music teaching in the history of western music education. He is regarded as a researcher and writer , Editors and teachers in one person. Gordon’s Theory of Music Learning1 was founded in the West as one of the most well-known theories in music teaching with Kodaly, Orff, Dalkrox and Suzuki. ABC television forecasts him as “a scholar who may change music education in the 21st century.”
