Faro established at the State University of New York. This is the first national science research center in the United States funded by the National Science Foundation. The purpose of the center is to combine the forces of universities, scientific research institutes, social organizations, enterprises, and even individuals engaged in earthquake engineering research throughout the United States to form a cooperative research collaboration network with unified coordination and command and division of labor. The scientific research of earthquake engineering in the United States is booming; the goal is to seek effective countermeasures to reduce earthquake disasters.
