Sober siesta I first came into contact with Botticelli’s paintings (1445-1510), most likely from a box of soaps, perhaps a romantic gift from a brother-in-law. Of course I do not know. The painting is called “the Birth of Venus,” but I was extremely impressed with the nude girl standing on the Beishan, her right hand covering her left hand and blocking the perineum. I do not know Debussy first acquainted Botticelli, what kind of throbbing. Debussy had fallen in love with “ex-Raphaelites” before he became obsessed with “Impressionists.” But he initially hammer-sounded, perhaps Botticelli, and the first of his current orchestral works was “Spring” . There are many people in Botticelli’s picture called “Spring.”
