小浪底水库位于新安县城北11公里处。最高水位275米,总水面为8270公顷;正常水位250米,养殖水面为5290公顷,可养殖网箱水面3719公顷,占养殖水面的70.3％,其中库汊水面为1856公顷,沿岸滩地水面为1863公顷。该水面淹没区杂草丛生,蓄水后,水质肥沃,无污染,发展网箱养殖自然条件良好。沿库乡(镇)政府多次组织群众到外地参观学习,聘请省内外水产专家论证,举办网箱养鱼培训班。从2000年5月份群众就自发购置网箱,当年养殖水面达到980m2,到2000年底,已养殖网箱113039m2。沿库群众网箱养殖热情高涨。
