Edna is the heroine of the most representative “Awakening” by Kate Chopin, a famous feminist literary pioneer in the late 19th century. This essay illustrates Edna’s reluctance to be a Canary raised in a man’s cage in an attempt to seek an independent ego that ends up being disillusioned in cruel reality.
