1946年,《新民晚报》在上海创刊初期,辟有三种不同风格的副刊:《夜光杯》,编者吴祖光;《夜花园》,编者李嘉;我负责编《十字街头》。《夜光杯》辛苦跋涉,已经五十年;《十字街头》却不到周岁就夭折,早已成历史废墟了。 编刊物全靠作家扶持,譬如搭台演戏,不能没有演员。《十字街头》寿命虽短,却拥有一位非常出色的作家,作为自己的台柱子。他擅长武戏文唱,用旧诗词的格调写新歌谣,针砭时事,文采飞扬,笔锋尖锐泼辣而又新鲜,时有警句,闪烁生光,很受读者注目。作家署名高潮,文坛不见经传,读者疑云疑雨,引起不少猜测。钱钟书同志当时正在上海写他的《围城》,有一次就问我的助编阿湛,高潮是不是我的化名?其实我哪有这等造诣。
In 1946, when Xinmin Evening News was first published in Shanghai, there were three different supplements: “Luminous Cup” and editor Wu Shuguang; “Night Garden” and editor Li Jia; and I was responsible for compiling the “Cross Street.” “Luminous Cup” trek, has 50 years; “Crossroads” but less than the age of premature death, has long been a historical ruin. The compilation depends entirely on the writer’s support, such as taking a stage play, without an actor. “Cross street” life is short, but has a very good writer, as their own pillars. He is good at martial arts singing and writing, with the style of the old poems to write new songs, pinpoint current affairs, literary flying, sharp and punctual fresh and sharp, sometimes aphorisms, flashing light, very reader attention. Writer signature climax, literary alley, readers doubtful, causing a lot of speculation.
