早秈品种“矮脚南特”是广东潮阳县金玉人民公社东仓生产队洪春利和洪群英兩人选出的。他們在南特号大田中发現茎稈粗矮、性状优異的兩个单株,共得种子千粒,經当年繁殖,获得种子155,000多粒,計8斤2兩。此后經二年的試种,表現良好。1958年,洪春利等以之种植2.7亩丰产田,平均亩产1145斤;洪群英在1.27亩丰产田中获得平均亩产1221斤的丰产紀录。由于矮脚南特具有丰产抗倒的优良特性,所以目前已在各地迅速繁殖推广。最近二年来,我省也开始引入种植和繁殖推广。根据各地反映,該品种在我省生長表現也甚为良好,亩产一般可达700-800斤。如进一步根据該品种特性,改进栽培技术,則亩产可达到千斤以上。根据浙江农业大学1960年的試种和覌察,矮脚南
