Monsanto, a multinational corporation, has admitted that it has been actively communicating with the Mexican judiciary for the contamination of Mexico’s traditional maize with genetically modified corn. This is also the rhetoric of some environmentalists who oppose the approval of the giant giants’ commercialization of GM seeds. Monsanto was collectively questioned by 53 Mexican citizens and 20 local non-governmental organizations. Prior to this, other agencies have permitted some pilot stations to issue genetically modified corn and intend to issue commercial varieties subsequently. On the other hand, Monsanto and other companies that produce GM maize seeds said the GM maize seeds could coexist with “native maize.” However, some companies, including Syngenta, also expressed the impossibility of avoiding free exchange of GM seeds that contaminated traditional crops. Relevant departments recognize that, in order to avoid GMO
