Plant transformation with a gene encoding a viral replicase confers a plant a high degree of resistance to the virus. Transgenic plants that are highly resistant to Tobacco mosaic virus (TMV), cucumber mosaic virus (CMV), potato X virus (PVX), potato virus Y (PVY) and the like have been successfully obtained using the replicase gene of the virus. Replicase gene expression at the RNA level or protein level, interfere with the normal function of the replicase, and thus effectively inhibit the virus replication, so as to achieve the purpose of resistance.
