美国小说家埃德加·爱伦·坡极其擅长对死亡的刻画,尤其擅长对“美女之死”这一主题的刻画,“美”与“死”在他的作品中达到了完美和谐的统一。而美国著名的小说家海明威一生在其作品中塑造了无数个“硬汉式”人物形象,这些“硬汉式”人物以坚强的反抗命运的方式和“重压下的优雅”影响了一代代读者。本文从社会因素、家庭因素及个人经历等方面分析了两位作家对女性形象创作的不同的成因,并且探讨了坡和海明威通过自己的文学作品所想要表达的女性理想。
