The fourth issue of this year published two articles on Xu Mengqiu’s essay, attracted some readers attention and thinking. More readers sent a letter to the editorial department saying that as a top cadre of the Red Army, Xu Mengqiu had always insisted on keeping a diary and keeping it well (a total of about 100,000 words) during the Long March and has important historical value. For the long march diary of Xu Mengqiu, we can not find the manuscript for the time being. However, many of the descriptions of the Long March are contained in Xu Mengqiu’s memoir by American journalist Nimes Wells. In order to help readers understand the contents of Xu Mengqiu’s Long March diary, we now present Xu’s translations about the Long March. By reading these words, we not only have a glimpse at the Leopard, but we have a rough idea of Xu’s dream diary and we can learn many important pieces of information about the Long March.
