In 1978, rice in our area got an unprecedented bumper harvest, with a big yield increase. The yield per unit, the total output and the number of high-yielding units are unprecedented in history. The area has 1,668,000 mu of paddy rice, with an average yield of 734 kg and a total output of 1,235 million kg, up 10.4% and 6.5% respectively from the highest level in 1973 and 22.4% and 24.8% respectively over 1977.
