中国现当代戏剧学科是20世纪五六十年代基本确立的。到80年代,随着南京大学陈白尘、董健教授主编的《中国现代戏剧史稿》,和中国艺术研究院葛一虹教授主编的《中国话剧通史》、田本相教授主编的《中国现代比较戏剧史》等论著先后出版,中国现代戏剧研究已趋于成熟。然而相较于现代戏剧研究成果的丰富厚重,长期以来,学术界关于中国当代戏剧的研究薄弱滞后。这种情形直至世纪之交才得以改观。尤其是南京大学主持的两项国家社科基金项目——董健、胡星亮主编《中国当代戏剧史稿》(中国戏剧出版社2008年出版)获得学术界高度评价,胡星亮著《当代中外比较戏剧史论》(人民出版社2009年出版,以下简称《史论》)鉴定为优秀并入选“国家社科基金成果文库”——的完成与出版,有力地扭转了中国
Chinese modern and contemporary drama discipline was basically established in the 1950s and 1960s.
