The “Diving Bird” is a collection of short stories by Canadian writer Margaret Lawrence, “The Birds in the House.” This article elaborates the symbolism of diving birds from the following three aspects: symbolism of the environment, symbolism of the spirit, Symbolism of destiny. Through the above analysis, we come to the conclusion that the application of these symbols makes the text beyond its own literal meaning, making the theme of the novel richer and more profound in meaning, making the novel more historical and artistic value.
