美国鲍尔(Ball)航空航天系统部正在研究一种新型导弹预警卫星系统方案。该系统在发射大量小型探测器卫星的同时,还发射为数众多的假目标,其主要优点是生存能力强,可以阻碍苏联反卫星武器的攻击。搞成这样一个系统预计需要花5年时间和大约三亿美元的经费。这一新型预警系统方案受到美国防御官员们的关注。因为现有导弹预警卫星系统存在着比较容易受到攻击的缺点。
Ball Aerospace Systems Division of the United States is studying a new missile warning satellite system program. While launching a large number of small detector satellites, the system also launched a large number of false targets. The main advantage of this system is its viability and can hinder the attack by the Soviet anti-satellite weapons. It is estimated that such a system will take about 5 years and cost about 300 million U.S. dollars. This new type of early warning system has attracted the attention of U.S. defense officials. Because of the shortcomings of the existing missile warning satellite systems that are relatively vulnerable to attack.
