The production of lacquerware in our country, counting from the earliest Hemudu lacquered wood bowls, has been dating back six or seven thousand years. After thousands of years of development, the lacquer technology developed in the Warring States Period. The prosperity of the Qin and Han dynasties and the glory of the Ming and Qing Dynasties reached the point of “Thousands of Wans and Worshipers.” However, because lacquer ware is not easy to preserve, the lacquer wares before the Tang and Song dynasties rarely survived except the archaeological excavations. Most of the lacquer wares seen today are the works of the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.
