唐代是中国民俗传播日本的重要时期，寒食节当时已为遣唐的日本人所知，但有意识未导入日本。其原因在于寒食与日本的本土文化不相容，在于日本人关于秽的观念。在唐朝做为寒食重要内容的皇帝赐火，因为秽的妨碍，在日本很难出现；在中国给寒食带来强大生命力的扫墓之风，因与秽的观念相矛盾，同样无法影响及日本。
The Tang Dynasty was an important period for the spread of Chinese folklore in Japan. The Cold Food Festival was known to the Japanese who sent the Tang Dynasty but was consciously not introduced to Japan. The reason is that the cold food is incompatible with Japan’s native culture and lies in the Japanese’s concept of filth. In the Tang Dynasty, the emperor, who was an important part of the cold food in the Tang Dynasty, gave a fire because obscene obstruction was hard to come by in Japan. The sweeping style of sweeping in China, which brought strong vitality to cold food, also did not affect Japan .
