“Japan-US Security Treaty” has profoundly affected the international relations in the Asia-Pacific region since it was signed, and was subsequently revised again during the time of the Kishi Minato Cabinet and the Shinzo Abe Cabinet. By examining the process of drafting, formulating and negotiating the Japan-US security pacts, this paper mainly analyzes the adjustment of interests among various political subjects in Japan by using political process theory. Japan achieved a high degree of binding Japan and the United States through a security treaty and achieved the purpose of ensuring long-term political and social stability in Japan. However, Japan-US security pacts have also brought many negative effects to Japan. A careful analysis of the origins of the treaty will help us understand the actual pattern of Japan-US relations and Japan’s international politics.
