OBJECTIVE: To detect the blood biochemical markers of Brandt’s vole (Microtus brandti) and to compare the differences of this index between the nonspecific pathogen-free (SPF) clonal group and the lab taming wild Brandt’s vole (Microtus brandti). METHODS: Twenty-five blood biochemical markers of Brandt’s vole (Microtus brandti) and 4-month-old Brandt’s vole (Microtus brandti) were measured in 4-month-old wild individuals and 16 individuals in each population. Results: The values of ALT and AST in wild Brandt’s voles (Microtus brandti) fed in laboratory environment were significantly higher than those of SPF-grade Brandt’s vole (Microtus brandti). Some of the blood biochemical indexes varied greatly among different sexes. CONCLUSIONS: To some extent, the control of microorganisms in and out of Brandt’s vole (Microtus brandti) affects the blood biochemical markers of the animal.
