Przewalski, a Russian explorer, was the first European to reach the Asian plateau and was the first foreigner to examine Qaidam. He had been involved in Qaidam twice. Qaidam was not the destination for his travel but only a must-see for Tibet. It is Przewalski’s trip to Tibet that more people in Europe and the world know and understand the Qaidam. As a result of the old Russian military origin, and the expedition team fully armed, his scientific expedition needs an objective evaluation. We provide readers with information on Przewalski’s adventure and select some chapters for reading from the books Lost in the Rover and Call of the Wasteland published by Xinjiang People’s Publishing House for comment.
