托马斯·金是加拿大印第安文学的代表人物。小说《龟背》以生态灾难为切入口,展现了印第安人对民族身份的追寻和对传统文化的重构,揭示了工业化发展给印第安生态文化带来的破坏以及北美多元文化背景下印第安人的“异化”与族裔意识的缺失。本文围绕小说中的“回归”主题,从印第安人与白人的历史文化冲突、白人工业化发展对印第安人生存环境的破坏以及族裔身份的回归三方面入手,解读印第安文化的回归与重建。
Thomas King is the representative of Canadian Indian literature. The novel “Turtle” takes the ecological catastrophe as an entrance, shows Indians’ pursuit of national identity and reconstruction of traditional culture, reveals the destruction caused by the industrialization development to the Indian ecological culture and the Indians in North American multicultural background “Alienation” and the Lack of Ethnic Consciousness. Based on the theme of “Regression ” in the novel, this article attempts to explain the return and reconstruction of Indian culture from the historical and cultural conflicts between Indians and whites, the destruction of Indians living environment by the white industrialization and the return of ethnic identity.
