《英雄无故3》的辉煌,似乎给它的后继者铺平了道路。随着经典的相关资料片《末日之刃》、《死亡阴影》的推出,战斗平衡性的增强,更是牢牢奠定了《英雄无敌》回合战略游戏的王者地位。可惜取得的巨大成功也是一把双刃剑——《英雄无敌4》同时面时的是更大的挑战。为了寻求突破,NEW WORLD COMPUTING(制作小组)开始对英雄系列进行更大的变革:将本来一直辅助战斗的英雄也真正参与到战斗中来,将沿用已久的2D场景改为3D……结果就如挑剔的玩家预料的一样,一时间英雄爱好者的骂声四起。过多的BUG,不成熟的系统,有些别扭的画风,匮乏的平衡性将玩家们原先对本作的强烈期待转化为无尽的失落。其实,就笔者个人认为,4代整体制作水准还是相当高的,无论是哪个方面都可以看得出NWC确实煞费苦心,下了不少功夫。
