The absence of a co-stimulatory signal can cause T cells to produce an unresponsiveness. Studies have demonstrated that stimulation of peptide antigens presented by chemically-treated APCs induces an unresponsiveness of CD4 + T cells that do not respond to normal antigen stimulation recognized by TCR but maintain normal responses to IL2; anti-TCR / CD3 complexes Antibodies or superantigens can also induce T cells to produce unresponsiveness; anti-IL2
