It is noteworthy that Chinese officials accepted the concept of Western literature in late Qing Dynasty. Historically, it has been argued that the main concern of the officials is the “additional factor” of the drama, and neglect of the drama itself. This article starts from the West in the late Qing Dynasty to record the literature, proving that the late Qing Dynasty officials did not pay attention to the western drama itself, and analyzed their views on western drama from the aspects of art and thought. There is a profound contradiction between the western dramatic spirit and the official belief in the late Qing Dynasty, which makes it impossible for them to make no mistake about Western drama. However, there is still a special reference for the Chinese government to watch the Western drama in late Qing Dynasty significance.
