Daisy Miller was an early work by Henry James, describing the innocent and open American girl Daisy, who tragically died in ancient Europe. Tragedy is the main issue discussed in Aristotle’s “Poetics.” His theory of tragedy has a tremendous impact on the development of literature and art theory and literary creation in the later generations in the West. This article begins with Aristotle’s poetic theory of plot and character of tragedy, analyzes the tragedy of Daisy Miller and analyzes the causes of the tragic ending of the heroine Daisy.
