药品既有中文名也有外文名,两者并存、通用。外文名有的比较长,由十几个甚至几十个字母组成,书写、记忆都不容易:因此,有的药品外文名采用缩写:如Para-aminosalicy lic acid (对氨基水场酸)简写成PAS,既省时、又方便。可是在实际工作中,碰到一些缩写药名却常使人头痛,主要是缩写不统一,且不说各医疗单位的缩写五花八门,就是书籍、杂志上的缩写也不尽相同。药名的缩写,一般应在正式名称的基础上简缩。为了规范化,英国药典中对许多品种均附有缩写名称。例如insulin zinc suapension缩写为IZS等
