After the system of apartheid ended, the South African Communist Party, combining historical traditions with real needs, relied on strategies of alliance with the African National Assembly and the South African Trade Unions General Assembly to actively explore the basic path of building socialism in South Africa. However, the basic path of exploring the socialist road with the tripartite coalition as the nucleus is increasingly confronted with multiple challenges such as the weak leadership and image of the ANC, the split in the union conference in South Africa, and the upsurge of the populist movement. Against this backdrop, the call for the independent participation of the South African Communist Party in the election reappears. Whether the South African Communist Party will finally realize its strategic turn and embark on the path of independent participation in the election depends largely on whether the tripartite ruling coalition with the core of the non-state affairs can meet the basic objectives and strategic demands of South Africa in its exploration and construction of socialism.
