绘画发展至南宋,梁楷绘画可谓是异军突起,开创了新的风貌。关于梁楷生平的记载很少,生卒年岁等知之未详。最早提到梁楷风格的是元代夏文彦,他在《图绘宝鉴》中道:“梁楷,东平相义之后,善画人物山水释道鬼神。师贾师古,描写飘逸,青过于蓝。嘉泰年画院待诏,赐金带,楷不受,挂于院内,嗜酒自乐,号曰‘梁风子’。院人见其精妙之笔,无不敬伏,但传于世者皆草草,谓之减笔。”我们从这段记载中得知:梁楷曾于嘉泰年间(1201—1204)担任画院职位待诏.师从画院画家贾师古.善于人物山水等
