Foreword After two oil crises since 1973, the Japanese steel industry has made great efforts in saving energy - reevaluating all production processes from blast furnace operations to finished product manufacturing from the energy point of view, and saving energy per ton of crude steel in the recent 10 years 4.2GJ above, according to the current production of about 100 million tons of crude steel to calculate the size of this energy savings converted into oil, the equivalent of 11GL. This article describes the case of a direct steelmaking-hot-rolling process that makes a significant contribution to energy efficiency (Figure 1). When the steel-hot-rolling process is carried out directly, the quality of the finished product must be improved according to the user’s requirements, so the direct bonding technique must also reach the corresponding height.
