The status quo of friction and wear of wheel and rail of railway locomotive is expounded; the consumption amount of wheel, brake shoe and rail of diesel locomotive and the corresponding maintenance cost are studied; and it is pointed out that after appropriate new technology is adopted, significant economy benefit.
