1975年6月,在学习无产阶级专政理论热潮中,在广东红岭钨矿、有色金属研究院广东分院和鞍山黑色金属矿山设计院的共同努力下,采用φ300重介质涡流分选器对梅山铁矿一期富矿进行了工业性试验,旨在从矿石中脱除混入的废石、恢复其地质品位和矿石自熔性,为下一步脱除硫、磷杂质创造条件。工业性试验获得了较好的技术指标:原矿铁品位为47.70~46.72%、精矿铁品位为51.20~49.98%、尾矿铁品位8.32~6.17%和金属回收率为98.57~99.02%。
