According to the United Nations’ 1979 State of the World’s Women, women account for half of the world’s total population. Two-thirds of working women are working (or working) but receive only one-tenth of the world’s total income. In almost every country, women receive less money than men, even if they do the same or a similar job as men. In the world, the average woman earns only 40% to 60% of the man’s income per person. Rural women’s labor is often not counted in the “National Economic Activity Statistics” of many countries, while 60 to 80 per cent of rural work in Africa is done by women and at least a few per cent in developing countries
