For a long period of time, the controversy concerning the high-profile Nobel Prize for Literature that whether Chinese writer Mo Yan was qualified, has been buzzed and ‘In full Swing’ on mainstream newspapers and micro-blogs. When the Nobel Committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announced the news that Mo Yan won the 2012 Nobel Prize for Literature, this news drove massive insiders of Chinese literature circle rejoiced excitingly. Indeed this result was rather surprising for Nobel Committee of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences who had always been “in favor of” European writers.
For Chinese Literature, ‘Mo Yan Fever’ can further last longer. It is the indifference to the literature behind the ‘False Enthusiasm’ to Mo Yan. Ranging from 1980s, 1990s till now, the cooling trend of literature had been available for too long. Recently, Mo Yan also constantly introspected during his media interview: “Our traditional literature is gradually losing its vigor and dominant position, is it related to the decline in the quality of our works?” This reflected that the writer is rational and sober. It can’t be denied that dominance loss of traditional literature is related to its quality. Presently, quite a few writers have lost their basic persistence and patience, and become fickle and utilitarian. But it must be noted that this kind of fickleness and utilitarianism is related to the background of the time and the difficult situation that the whole literature circle is facing.
  China Needs ‘Reading Bloom’
Indeed, it seemed that ‘Mo Yan Fever’ swept the country overnight, and the rarely concerned literature suddenly became a hot topic, but these couldn’t be outweighed by that there was a huge gap between the literature and the masses.
Plenty of librarians from Peking University Library, Shanghai Library, Jinling Library, Guangzhou Library and other libraries reflected Mo Yan's books didn’t rank the “Title” in their own libraries previously, while the borrowing amount of Jia Pingwa’s book was slight more than that of Mo Yan. When Mo Yan was awarded with the Nobel Prize, his books were hot all at once, which was really too obvious. The borrowing amount of other writers’ books slight increased when it was compared to previous time, but it was not obvious.
