健康课堂番茄红素已经成为流行病学研究热点。它能够保护低密度脂蛋白受到氧化破坏,有预防心血管病发生的作用。番茄红素同时具有抗氧化作用,能够通过物力和化学的方式,捕捉过氧化自由基(有害物质)。男性体内前列腺,肾上腺,睾丸等器官中都含有大量的番茄红素。其中,番茄红素在前列腺中含量高达64%,说明前列腺是含有番茄红素最多的人体器官。研究表明前列腺中番茄红素浓度的缺乏,使其无法抵御自由基的侵蚀。使前列腺发生裂变和老化,出现病变。由于人体自身无法合成番茄红素,随着年龄增长,番茄红素的需求量也越大。
